The Day the Earth Stood Still

This movie is a remake of the original Science Fiction film of the same name in 1951. Starring Keanu Reeves as Klaatu, a cosmic alien that happens to be the main character of this movie. It was a good choice casting Keanu Reeves as Klaatu. As we have been used to seeing him from other movies, (Matrix, Constantine, etc.) Keanu always had this stone face character, who makes fiction movies like this, believable. He is definitely “the man”. I’m pretty sure this movie will mark a whole new level of modern special effects.

Synopsis:

A representative of an alien race that went through drastic evolution to survive its own climate change, Klaatu (Keanu Reeves) comes to Earth to assess whether humanity can prevent the environmental damage they have inflicted on their own planet. Klaatu himself already has a negative opinion of humans, and when barred from speaking to the United Nations, he decides they shall be exterminated so the planet - with its rare ability to sustain complex life - can survive. It is up to Dr. Helen Benson (Jennifer Connelly) and her stepson Jacob (Jaden Smith) to convince Klaatu humans are worth saving: but it may already be too late. — credits: http://www.nowrunning.com

Another must-see movie of the year!!!

Twilight Movie Review

Posted by yangga.8 | Movies | Thursday 4 December 2008 4:07 am

I have finally watched Twilight last Monday night. You might notice that my first post on this blog was about the coming out of this movie and bragged about my being a vampire fan. When I saw the trailer, I already knew that it was going to be a typical love story but with some bloody twists. And I was definitely right. Their love story was quite as passionate as Romeo and Juliet’s, but in a modernized and action-packed manner.

Edward Cullen was a very stunning vegetarian vampire and hasn’t aged for over a hundred years. Bella Swan was an eccentric girl and a bit different. They are unconditionally and passionately in love with each other in spite of their difference in species. Bella’s life has been on danger but Edward is never out of sight to protect her.

“Surely it was a good way to die, in the place of someone else, someone I loved. Noble, even. That ought to count for something.– Bella Swan, Twilight

I liked the story, especially because there are vampires involved in it. I had always admired vampires and lycans. I was expecting more action on this movie and I was quite disappointed how easy things went well in the end. I will be expecting more action on the next sequel, though. *wink*. But this movie so far is a remarkable work, especially by the actors (I love Edward … *giggles*).
