Boyce Avenue Live in the Philippines

Posted by yangga.8 | Music | Thursday 12 February 2009 10:30 am

This You Tube sensation was made famous by their own acoustic renditions of some of the newest artists’ hit songs, such us Umbrella, With You, Apologize, and many more. They also have their original compositions in strong acoustic and melodic rock sounds, such as Find Me, Hear Me Now, Change Your Mind and much more.

Boyce Avenue held an acoustic show at SM Northwing, Cebu earlier this evening at exactly 6pm. The group performed live for the first time in the Philippines and still has upcoming shows on selected SM malls in Manila. It’s definitely a great Valentine treat for their fans. And I am one of them! I just got home from the concert and still quite mesmerized by their music. My favorite part was when they sung their own version of “Wonderwall” and I was impressed. These talented guys definitely have something to showcase to the world. Plus, I certainly can’t deny that they are good-looking in person and I love them already! LOL!

Check out their upcoming shows:

Feb 13 (Free show!)
SM Mall of Asia at the Entertainment Mall, Seaside Boulevard at 7pm.

Feb 14 (Free show!)
Atrium of the The Block, SM City North Edsa at 5pm.

Feb 15 (Free show!)
Mega Atrium, SM Megamall at 7:30pm

Miraculous Mary of Simala

Posted by yangga.8 | Religion | Saturday 15 November 2008 10:10 am

Many devotees in the country (mostly in Cebu) have already witnessed the miracles of the Divine Virgin Mary in Simala. I had been a witness to this miracle, too. My friend, Angie and I went to Simala last November 13. It is a 2-hour bus ride from the main City in Cebu. We went there right after our night shift at work. Though, our faces already seemed tired and weary, we still managed to stand on our feet while waiting hours in line with other pilgrims to kiss the image of the miraculous Mama Mary. The miracle? Seeing an enormous pile of believers waiting on what seemed to be an unending line ignoring the heat and change of weather. About 9:30 am, the sun’s heat was still at the peak of the mountain and was almost burning our skin. After a couple of hours, it started to rain. Instead of being alarmed, the people were even more grateful as they believed that the rainfall was a sign of blessing. So then, Angie and I stood our ground and soaked in the rain. At 1:00 pm, we were finally inside the Church. I was overwhelming with excitement as we were getting close to the miraculous image. A few minutes after, I have finally kissed the beautiful image of Mama Mary (see the picture above). I felt the divine power of Mama Mary surrounding the place that seemed to be washing up of all the negative energies within my soul. *whew*. It was a very rewarding feeling. I am very much thankful that we survived.

The feast of the Miraculous Mary is celebrated on every 13th day of the month. This was based on the dates when Mama Mary miraculously appeared on the mountain of Simala. The first appearance happened on May 13 and the second was on October 13. From then on, the miracles lived on. Many people were coming to visit Mama Mary and offer their petitions. Most of them became answered prayers.

Mountain View

Posted by yangga.8 | Places | Tuesday 11 November 2008 12:26 am

This is how Cebu City looks like at night from the Mountain View. It is way better than the usual scene we see within the city itself. If you love peace and quiet, then come up here and feel the cold breeze of the mountain. But, if you are more into hot night gimmicks, then come down to the city and hop onto the restobars. *Don’t come down through the mountain, though, unless you want to kill yourself. *lol*

The Mountain View park can be found on the hilltop of Busay, Cebu City. You can drive here with your own wheels or commute with the suave motorbike (habal-habal in dialect) riders gladly waiting in line. Last December, our team Christmas Party was held here. It was my first time. *I never had the my second time yet, though. Hopefully, this year!* We drunk tequila while exchanging gifts. It’s one of the best places to spend a night with drinks and friends, especially with the cold atmosphere and the relaxing view. *sigh*

There are also drive-in diners within the park. If you feel like singing your heart out from the mountains, then you can sing on videokes while having a few drinks. *Don’t drink too much so you can drive home safely. Ayt? Remember, it’s still a long way down“.

You can also come up here to reflect and pray. In the Bible, most of the time God shows Himself on the mountains. Mount Sinai is where God appeared to Moses and the transfiguration of Jesus was witnessed by Peter and James on the Mount of Olives, also known as “holy mountain”. Being on top of the mountain makes you feel closer to Him. Not only that it is closer to the skies as we mostly believe is where heaven lies, it brings you closer to God by being away from busy streets of the city. Here, you will have more peace of mind. =)
